Example 1
Add: +5 & -9
Step 1: Put them in bracket like eg (+5), (-9)
thus: (+5)+(-9)
Step 2: Now multiply signs,
Thus: +5 -9
Further simplify: -4

If both integers have the same +ve sign, then just add the value and keep the sign same, ie + as in picture below;
If both integers are negative, then add them just ignore the -ve sign, and finally put in the answer of negative integers, this means having same sign should be added together as in the picture;
When adding two integers with different signs, subtract the smaller absolute value from the larger absolute value and take the sign of the number with the larger absolute value.
If same integers with same sign, the result will be positive and if with different signs, the result will be negative. as in picture
Part A-Understand the signs
find the signs of integer value using ICO Integer Calculator, Write whether the result will be POSITIVE or NEGATIVE. You do not need to solve just put the integer value and check it on the calculator to practice for identification os signs after integers operation.

Important note for integer and decimal: An integer is a whole number without a fractional part, while a decimal includes digits after the point. When dividing numbers, the integer quotient is the whole-number result obtained after ignoring any decimal part that appears in the division.
