Zakat Rules for Animals

  • Camels: 5–9 → 1 Goat, 10–14 → 2 Goats, 15–19 → 3 Goats, 20–24 → 4 Goats, 25–35 → 1 Bint Makhad (1-year-old female camel), 36–45 → 1 Bint Labun (2-year-old female camel), 46–60 → 1 Hiqqah (3-year-old female camel), 61–75 → 1 Jadha’ah (4-year-old female camel), 76–90 → 2 Bint Labun, 91–120 → 2 Hiqqah, 121+ → 1 Bint Labun per 40 OR 1 Hiqqah per 50.
  • Cows: 30–39 → 1 Tabi’ (1-year-old), 40–59 → 1 Musinnah (2-year-old), 60 → 2 Tabi’, 70 → 1 Tabi’ + 1 Musinnah, 80 → 2 Musinnah, 90 → 3 Tabi’, 100+ → 2 Musinnah + 1 Tabi’.
  • Sheep/Goats: 40–120 → 1, 121–200 → 2, 201–300 → 3, 301+ → +1 per additional 100.

(لِمَالِكِ ١٠٠ جَمَل، ١٠٠ بَقَر، وَ ١٠٠ غَنَم / 100 اونٹ، 100 گائے، اور 100 بھیڑ)

For an owner of 100 camels, 100 cows, and 100 sheep, who have been owned for a full lunar year and are freely grazing, the Zakat obligation is as follows:

1️⃣Camels – 100
Zakat Obligation: Two female camels (Hiqqah) each in their fourth year.
Arabic: زكاة الإبل: بعيرتان كاملتان (حقّة) لكل منهما في سنتها الرابعة
Urdu: اونٹوں کی زکوة: دو مادی اونٹ (حقہ) جو اپنی چوتھی عمر میں ہوں۔

Note: If more than 120 camels are owned, the calculation may vary: e.g., a Bint Labun for every 40 camels and a Hiqqah for every 50. For exactly 100 camels, two Hiqqah is applicable.

    2️⃣Cows – 100
    Zakat Obligation: Combination of one-year-old cow/bull (Tabi’) for every 30 and two-year-old cow (Musinnah) for every 40.For 100 cows: Two Musinnah (two-year-old) and one Tabi’ (one-year-old).
    Arabic: زكاة البقر: عجل واحد كل ثلاثين، و عجلتان كل أربعين Urdu: گائیوں کی زکوة: ہر 30 گائے کے لیے ایک ایک سالہ گائے / بیل (تابع) اور ہر 40 گائے کے لیے دو دو سالہ گائیں (مسینہ)۔

    3️⃣Sheep/Goats – 100
    Zakat Obligation: One sheep/goat.
    Arabic: زكاة الأغنام / المعز: شاة واحدة لكل ٤٠ إلى ١٢٠Urdu: بھیڑ/بکری کی زکوة: 40 سے 120 کی تعداد پر ایک جانور۔

      • Camels: 5
      • Cows: 30
      • Sheep/Goats: 40

      • Arabic: مدة الملكية: سنة قمرية كاملة

    3. Grazing Requirement: Animals should graze naturally in open pastures. Animals manually fed or used for work are generally exempt unless kept for trade.
      • Arabic: الرعي: يجب أن ترعى الحيوانات في المراعي الطبيعية
      • Urdu: چراگاہ: جانور زیادہ تر سال کھلے چراگاہ میں چرنا چاہیے۔
    4. Quality of Animals: Zakat animals should be of average quality, neither the best nor the worst.
      • Arabic: جودة الحيوان: متوسط الجودة
      • Urdu: جانور کی کوالٹی: اوسط معیار کا ہونا چاہیے، نہ بہترین اور نہ بدترین۔
